About Me

The story of the Dinosaur Game begins with Google Chrome’s development team in 2014. Designers Sebastien Gabriel, Alan Bettes, and Edward Jung wanted to create something fun for users to play when they were offline — a small, lightweight distraction that could bring a smile instead of frustration.

The idea was simple: an endless runner game that appears when your browser loses connection. The dinosaur, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, was chosen as the main character because being offline felt like going back to the “prehistoric age” before the internet.

Initially, the team called it “Project Bolan”, a playful nod to Marc Bolan, the lead singer of the 1970s rock band T. Rex. After months of development and testing, the Dinosaur Game officially launched in September 2014. It quickly became a viral sensation, not just because of its accessibility, but because of how surprisingly fun it was.
